About Port Townsend
Port Townsend is noted as an Historic Victorian seaport on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwest Washington. Visitors to our beautiful area enjoy touring the many Victorian homes, many of which have been converted into Bed and Breakfasts, and shopping in the many unusual shops downtown. Port Townsend enjoys a mild climate with only 17 inches of annual rainfall, allowing outdoor activities such as sea kayaking, hiking, fishing, biking, beachcombing, and more to be enjoyed all year round.
Fort Worden State Park is not only a great place to enjoy the miles of hiking trails and the beaches, but it is home to Centrum Foundation, an organization bringing top notch performing arts to Port Townsend.
Port Townsend is located in Jefferson County which has a population of under 30,000 even though it's the 18th largest county in Washington state. It stretches from the Pacific Ocean to Puget Sound with the Olympic Mountains, the Olympic National Park, and the Olympic National Forest taking up much of the center. There are many beautiful places to enjoy - beaches, the ocean, the mountains, rivers, farmland, and the unique towns that populate our county.
Port Townsend is just a delightful ferry ride and short scenic drive from Seattle. It's a great destination or it's a fun stopover on your way to Victoria, B.C. or the Pacific Ocean beaches.
